Addressing the Talent Shortage in Software Engineering

Mark has been in the IT industry in Belfast for over a decade. He shares his first job experience, where he had a great mentor and learnt important leadership skills– and how he applied those lessons when setting up EverQuote.

Throughout the episode, Mark shares his passion for seeing people progress in their careers and providing an environment that allows them to fulfil their potential. He emphasises that good leadership and mentorship are key to success in the IT industry.

Mark believes that the industry's biggest challenge is getting hold of talent and suggests that there are other ways to attract talent, such as apprenticeships and other programs, but we need to maintain momentum and investment in those areas.
